Here is a list of things that clients are allowed to bring to our residential treatment centre:

  • Provincial health card and Photo ID (mandatory) drug benefit card (if applicable)
  • Money for incidentals (optional). Please purchase a pre-paid credit card for use while at CHRC. The card will be locked-up for safe keeping and used only as approved by CHRC staff.
  • Comfortable casual clothing sufficient for 7 days, including sleepwear and bathrobe, and appropriate seasonal outerwear (rain gear, snow gear, jacket, boots, hats, gloves)
  • Indoor shoes and slippers (footwear to be worn at all times)
  • Outdoor footwear such as hiking boots or running shoes
  • Flip flops or slip-on sandals for sauna (mandatory)
  • Fitness gear (t-shirts, shorts, running shoes) to use in the fitness centre
  • Swim-style shorts (for our swim-spa)
  • Prescribed medications (We request that prescriptions be packaged in blister packs whenever possible. Please make this packaging request to your pharmacist.)
  • Shaving kit and toiletries, all items must be alcohol free (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, sunscreen), brush, electric hair trimmer, nail clippers
  • Self-help books/non-recreational reading material
  • Musical instruments or non-wifi music player/headphones for leisure time (optional)
  • Supplies for correspondence (optional)
  • Own blanket or pillow if desired. (All linens, blankets, pillows and room towels are provided.)
  • Personal journal (optional)
  • If you smoke, unopened cigarettes only. (Cigarettes are not sold at the Centre.)
  • Personal water bottle (optional)
  • Golf clubs (optional)
  • Watch (recommended), alarm clock (optional)
  • Sunscreen or bug spray (seasonal)


What Not to Bring to our residential treatment centre

  • Clothing suggestive of alcohol or drug use or clothing that promotes negativity/violence, sexism, racism or homophobia or any gang-related clothing/colours
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Over-the-counter medications, herbal remedies, nutritional supplements
  • Mouthwash or other toiletries containing alcohol, including cologne
  • Cameras or video equipment of any type, or video games
  • Cell phones, pagers (These items will be stored in secure locked cabinet)
  • Laptop computers/notebooks, DVD players/iPod /MP3 players, or portable devices that have internet or movie capability, including e-readers
  • Heating pad or electric blankets
  • Weapons, including pocket knives
  • Valuable jewelry, expensive clothing, large amounts of cash
  • Pets
  • Pornography
  • Food, snacks, candy, soda pop, protein powder, energy drinks
  • We recommend no automobiles, and prefer that arrangements are made with family or friends for travel to and from the residential treatment centre. If transportation to the Centre is a problem, please speak to our intake staff to assist with arrangements. If arriving by air, transportation will be provided by a CHRC staff member to and from Toronto Pearson airport.
